You can relax a bit, when your campus network and its services running properly, but fear of an unexpected failure somewhere is always on your head. Hence keeping eye on every devices and application services around the clock could be very hard. A well setup tool set could ping you when something went wrong.

The workshop will train you, how you could setup a free open source monitoring tool set to monitor your network and its services while alerting you when something went wrong.

 

Venue: Virtual On-Line (over Zoom)

Duration: 3 days

Target group: Junior Network/Systems Engineers/Administrators

Program Level: Intermediate

Prerequisite: Networking/Linux Basis

Dates: 17th, 24th and 25th of May 2021 (a week after the first day to configure SNMP on campus devices)

Workshop Content (Tentative)

    1. SNMP theory

    2. Device configuration 

    3. Setting up LibreNMS including hands-on in alerting to Android phones

    4. Setting up iCinga for monitoring and alerting with hands-on

 

Note: Each participant is required to setup two ubuntu 20.04LTS servers with access to your institutes local network (with static private IP), but with unrestricted internet access. ( With at least 4GB RAM and 50GB HDD each). No need to have public IP's or DNS.

LEARN will not provide VM space. Therefore, participants should find space for these requirements from their own institutional infrastructure
